Re: Random Art

Those were so much fun to scroll through! Just kept getting cooler.

Particularly liked the 4th one.

Re: Random Art

glad you guys duggem.  it was fun not to make a "piece" out of those random bar/train/plane sketches and just keep doodlin' through the negative space.  might take a hint from these and work it into comical book form...

Re: Random Art

Awesome. Free booze!  I'm trying to finish something up tonight after work. I'll post it when its done. Nothing earth shattering, but we all start somewhere I suppose. Always awesome to get feed back. smile

Alot of my stuff never really gets finished...so if you guys don't mind some WIP images I can do that too.

Disarine's happy place lol

Weird picture inspired by Badimo...I really love that song

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y123/Moonshyn/undaicopy.jpg

A VERY unfinished picture of something inspired by a few nights of various Juno songs. smile Just can't seem to get it right. Water is so frustrating to render...yet I keep trying like some kind of possessed idiot. lol

Before you start throwing empty liquor bottles and rotten fruit....I never promised any great art lol. But you all seem pretty awesome, don't give me the cane.

Re: Random Art

Indeed, that last one is my favorite. I enjoy the water effects (something I've yet to figure out how to get right).
Which songs were you thinking of when working on her?

I was listening to Navras, Giant and Shark if my memory serves me right.

Re: Random Art

water (and any clear substance) is best represented more by the refractive effect it has on the background then anything you actually draw for it itself (i.e. where the water overlaps the edge of the white background, were that warped by the ray paths it would make the whole thing look more solid even tho most of it isnt changed at all)
specular hotspots (reflected light areas) also add to the effect but you wont get far actually trying to draw water

Re: Random Art

Thanks for the input OOPz, one day you guys'll see me rendering so bitchin' water lol.

I can't help but try...because its a weak spot. As for this chick, I'll be in the workshop banging her (or a least her water) into shape. Think I'll spend some time on google...looking at pictures of water...oh joy :C

that sorta idea, only... try to actually use a stream of water/glass/something to work out what the deflection should look like, thats total guess work (and it shows)

Re: Random Art

I really like that last one Disarine.

Her markings are pretty cool. Probably better than I can do if I tried my hardest. The water part is the only not-so-good part, although I have never tried making water so I shouldn't complain, nor give advise. At least you can see what you need to improve upon.

Re: Random Art

i'm not a fan of anthro art but i dig the splifportrait.

realistic water rendering for 2d lineart is usually a losing battle, especially nowadays in this futureage of knomputorz.  take pics and cut&paste.  if you're looking to stylize, then only you know if it looks how you need it to.  just remember rules 1-3, "practice"

never picked it up but i think its ?J.D. Smith? on 'Fathom' by Michael Turner (a big scuba fan)
