realistic water rendering for 2d lineart is usually a losing battle, especially nowadays in this futureage of knomputorz. take pics and cut&paste. if you're looking to stylize, then only you know if it looks how you need it to. just remember rules 1-3, "practice"
Thanks un, I think I'll search google and see how other artists are doin' their water. I really like how it was done in the picture you posted. Going to spend the rest of the week trying to fix this one. I'll repost it the results.
OOPz: Fire is also a bitch to draw...but if you think about it all the elements are.

The water part is the only not-so-good part, although I have never tried making water so I shouldn't complain, nor give advise. At least you can see what you need to improve upon.
You don't have to be a master to know what looks good or bad. Hell, I'm no master chef, but I know bad food when I taste it right? So no worries, I really appreciate it.
You all are a great help, thanks ![]()

Re: Random Art
Quite the information injects oopzun! Thanks much.
I've had my stylized versions of fire figured out for a while, but I still hadn't nailed down water. Because it's liquid.

waters fairly simple, expecially with fluid body simulation nowdays... post production for fire is an answer, yes.. expecially in still shots, but... it wont cut it what a camera moving into/out of a 3d scene, ya need volumetrics for that sorta thing (or at least, faked volumetrics... which oddly enough, often look better)

Looks a bit different than the usual. I like how there isn't so much of that dark line you seem to like so much. It shows more detail this way.

Fame? I'm afraid it came out as too obvious a route.

There are things I wish I could easily change on this one, but it is what it is.
God rays trouble me.

Heh, it's fun trying to make hideous things somehow sexy. Trying, anyway...
More geekism! Didn't notice the ape had man-face until I was twenty minutes ago - will have to fix his nose at some point...oh well

Re: Random Art
Mr. MR...I enjoy. Though Mr. Romita will probably be good and retired by the time I am able to compete.
I can't wait to get my new pen nibs in the mail, and get back into inking. Nothing quite like a pure, sharp black line...

Re: Random Art
Still not 100% on the colors (December was a low point, art-wise, for me, and I got rusty). I do know there are plenty of details that need to be tweaked, but whatever.
Boy, it really shows when you haven't practice drawing hands in a while...jeeeez

i'd say calm down with the bubbley highlights specifically on the victim and the ?rock/tree roots?

Re: Random Art
Yeah that was another problem I had - when I added the shadows and colors, many lines were lost. Since the basic structure followed the same line, it blended in. Perhaps I'll add in more roots interlacing the rocks.
And yes, I did indeed go crazy with the bubbly highlights...not enough thinking
